He was selected by the Eagles in the 13th round of the 1939 NFL draft after playing college football at Texas Christian University (TCU) .
[2] White was a member of the TCU Horned Frogs football team from 1935 to 1938, and a three-year letterman from 1936 to 1938.
[1] His senior year in 1938, the Horned Frogs were the consensus national champions with an 11–0 record and White was named Associated Press second-team All-Southwest Conference.
