Alonzo Earl Short Jr. (born January 27, 1939)[1] is a retired United States Army lieutenant general who served as Director of the Defense Information Systems Agency.
[2] Born in North Carolina, Short grew up in Portsmouth, Virginia and attended I. C. Norcom High School.
Short later earned a master's degree in business management from the New York Institute of Technology.
[3][4] As a brigadier general, Short served as commander of U.S. Army Information Systems Management Activity (ISMA) at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey.
After that, he served as director of the Defense Information Systems Agency from August 1991 to July 1994.
