Altoona, Kansas

Altoona is a city in Wilson County, Kansas, United States,[1] along the Verdigris River.

[7] As of 1916, Altoona was a sundown town, where African Americans were not allowed to live.

[10] According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.55 square miles (1.42 km2), all of it land.

[11] The 2020 United States census counted 354 people, 140 households, and 84 families in Altoona.
