Amanda Township, Hancock County, Ohio

[4] Amanda Township was first settled on February 25, 1822, by Thomas Thompson.

[5][6][7] Thompson built a cabin in 1823 and planted the township's first crop that year.

[8] Thompson lived in Amanda Township until his death in Vanlue on October 26, 1873.

[6] The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.
