Anakkara (Idukki)

Anakkara is a geographic area of around 50 square kilometres (12,000 acres) that spreads across Vandanmedu, Chakkupallam Panchayats in the Udumbanchola Taluk of Idukki District, Kerala, India.

It is about 18 kilometers (11 mi) from Thekkady wildlife sanctuary on the Kumily-Munnar state highway.

[3] As of 2011 Census, Anakkara had a population of 24,193 with 12,056 males and 12,136 females.

Anakkara village has an area of 38.46 km2 (14.85 sq mi) with 5,962 families residing in it.

[citation needed] Situated at a height of about 4,000 feet (1,200 m) above sea level, Anakkara is mostly plain lands with small hillocks and some marshy areas.
