AEI delivers post-secondary programs approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities of Ontario.
The educational curriculum was adapted to meet the needs of Indigenous learners to ensure it reflects community needs, cultural heritage and identity.
In June 1993, The Union of Ontario Indians (UOI), at the Anishinabek Grand Council on the Chippewa's of Kettle & Stony Point First Nation, the Chiefs in Assembly directed the Union of Ontario Indians Education Directorate to develop a model of an Anishinabek post-secondary institution.
