The programme's producer, surprised by the quality of her performance, then arranged for her to sing at the Café Luso in Lisbon, a restaurant famous for hosting fado singers.
[3][4] In 1954, A Voz de Portugal, a magazine devoted to popular song, highlighted Guerreiro in its Cantam Estrelas (Stars Sing) section.
She followed this with many other appearances in revues, a popular form of entertainment in Portugal at the time, known as Teatro de Revista (Magazine shows).
[3] In Parque Mayer, Guerreiro founded and ran a bar called Adega da Anita, which attracted many of the great fado singers.
[1][3][4] She then left revue shows for a decade, but continued to sing and record fado in Europe, Canada, and the US, performing particularly for Portuguese emigrant communities.
A tribute concert was held for her on 17 February 2004 at the Teatro São Luiz in Lisbon, to commemorating her 50 years as a fado singer.
A television programme to celebrate her 82nd birthday included a message of greeting from the Portuguese president, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
