Anne Cooke, FMedSci, FRSB (née Syme; born 14 November 1945) is a British biologist and academic, specialising in immunology and autoimmune diseases.
Cooke was born on 14 November 1945 in South Shields, England, to William and Margaret Syme.
[1] She studied biochemistry at the University of Glasgow and graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in 1967.
[1] Her doctoral thesis was titled Characterisation of immunoglobulin synthesised by lymphoid tissue in vitro.
From 1972 to 1973, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Illinois and worked at the Medical Center, Chicago, USA.
During this time she collaborated with Joyce Baird, diabetologist at Edinburgh's Western General Hospital.
