Arlesheim District

Arlesheim district has an area, as of 2009[update], of 96.24 square kilometers (37.16 sq mi).

[3] Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks German (123,190 or 87.0%), with Italian language being second most common (4,772 or 3.4%) and French being third (2,704 or 1.9%).

[4] As of 2008[update], the gender distribution of the population was 48.4% male and 51.6% female.

The total Swiss population change in 2008 (from all sources, including moves across municipal borders) was an increase of 13 and the non-Swiss population change was an increase of 1,143 people.

In the federal election, a total of 50,214 votes were cast, and the voter turnout was 49.3%.
