Arthur J. Tuttle

[1] He was United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan from 1911 to 1912.

[2] On August 2, 1912, Tuttle was nominated by President William Howard Taft to a seat on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan vacated by Judge Alexis C. Angell.

Tuttle was confirmed by the United States Senate on August 6, 1912, and received his commission the same day.

[1] He was the last federal judge in active service to have been appointed by President Taft.

[3] Tuttle also oversaw the 1942 treason trial of Max Stephan.
