Savolainen won a bronze medal at the 2015 Cadet Wrestling World Championships held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
[3] In 2020, he lost his bronze medal match against Jello Krahmer of Germany in the 130 kg event at the European Wrestling Championships held in Rome, Italy.
[8][9] At the 2020 Summer Olympics, Savolainen lost his bronze medal match against Mohammad Hadi Saravi of Iran in the 97 kg event.
[11][12] In 2022, Savolainen won the silver medal in his event at the Vehbi Emre & Hamit Kaplan Tournament held in Istanbul, Turkey.
[14][15] A few months later, he won one of the bronze medals in his event at the Matteo Pellicone Ranking Series 2022 held in Rome, Italy.
