The Ascension Convent (Ukrainian: Флорівський монастир, Russian: Флоровский монастырь) in the Kyivan neighbourhood of Podil, also known as the Florivsky, originated in the 16th century as the wooden church of Sts.
[1] The convent's notable residents included Princess Natalia Dolgorukova, one of the first Russian women writers.
[1] In the fall of 2019, the Artynov House in the Podil district of Kyiv was demolished to build cells.
[4] The monastery was known for its charitable and educational activities in the late nineteenth century (a school and a hospital for the poor were in operation).
The abbess of the Florivsky Monastery, Smaragda, wrote a book known among Orthodox believers, "Reverent Christian Reflections."
