[3] The party won two by-elections to Ashfield District Council in 2017 and 2018 in the Hucknall North[4] and Sutton Junction & Harlow Wood wards.

[5] In 2019, the party stood candidates across Ashfield District Council and won 30 of the 35 seats, taking overall control of the authority.

In July 2019, party leader Jason Zadrozny announced that he would be a candidate for the Ashfield constituency when the next general election was held.

[10][11] In the 2024 United Kingdom general election, Zadrozny again ran in the Ashfield constituency and came third with a reduced vote share.

In November 2022, Zadrozny and five other Ashfield Independent Councillors were arrested for fraud, election offences, money laundering and misconduct in public office.

[18] As part of the same investigation, Tom Hollis was charged with two offences for allegedly failing to declare his disclosable pecuniary interest in a property, between 30 May 2019 and 10 September 2021.
