He represented Saltcoats from 1929 to 1934 and from 1948 to 1960 and Pheasant Hills from 1934 to 1948 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Liberal.
Born in Iceland, the son of Sveinbjörn Loptson and Steinunn Ásmundsdóttir,[1] he came to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his parents[3] in 1887.
Loptson trained as a harness-maker and then moved to Selkirk, Manitoba, where he apprenticed as a jeweler.
