Prior to that, he served as a Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan from 2013 to 2019, and member of the Mäjilis from 2001 to 2008.
From 1984, he was the chief technologist, and the head of the Cannery at the Lenin Joly State Farm before becoming the Second Secretary of the Sairam District Committee of the Komsomol in February 1988.
