August Bellanca

Charles Lindberg intended to fly a Bellanca airplane , the Miss Columbia, to Paris however, in an historical turn of fate, Bellanca's main investor insisted upon being a passenger, lawsuits ensued and GW Bellanca's Miss Columbia was saddled with an injunction that grounded it for several months, compelling Lindberg to seek out the Ryan brothers in Santa Monica, California, for his Spirit of St. Louis.

The ACWA was formed as an offshoot of United Garment Workers and was the result of tensions between the national union and urban locals.

Dorothy Bellanca would rise to prominence as a defender of women's rights among the male-dominated ACWA.
