Aurora is a city in Buchanan County, Iowa, United States.
[3][4] Aurora was founded in 1886 by the Chicago Great Western Railway, and incorporated in 1899.

The racial makeup of the city was 95.1% White, 0.5% African American, and 4.3% from two or more races.

Aurora is served by the East Buchanan Community School District.
In 1959, voters approved a merger of schools in Winthrop, Quasqueton, and Aurora, forming the East Buchanan School District (neighboring Monti was added to the district in 1966).
