[2] The corridor begins near the Uppilipalayam Flyover and ends near the Goldwins junction over the Avinashi Road, the most important arterial road in the city, bypassing over 12 traffic intersections.
Upon completion, this would be the longest elevated corridor in Tamil Nadu, and the third longest in India after the Aroor-Thuravoor Elevated Highway[3] in Kochi, India and the P. V. Narasimha Rao Expressway.
[4] A 10.01-kilometre (6.22 mi) long, 17.25-metre (56.6 ft) wide elevated road project at a cost of ₹1,621 crore was proposed in 2019 to reduce traffic congestion in the congested Avinashi Road .
The project was sanctioned in June 2020 when the Tamil Nadu Government gave its 'in principle' approval to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for the elevated expressway.
There would be a total of four entry and exit ramps as part of the project.
