Bárbara Jacobs (born 19 October 1947) is a Mexican writer, poet, essayist and translator.
Born in Mexico City in 1947, Jacobs grew up in a home where five languages were spoken.
Her novel, Las hojas muertas (Dead leaves; 1987), received the Xavier Villaurrutia Award,[3] and has been translated into English, Italian and Portuguese.
Some of Jacobs' works have been published in collective anthologies in Castilian, English, French, Italian and German.
Jacobs was married to the writer Augusto Monterroso (died 2003), who was the Prince of Asturias Award for Literature laureate in 2000.
