B. K. Misra

Dr. Basant Kumar Misra is a neurosurgeon specialising in treating brain, spine, cerebrovascular and peripheral nervous system disorders, injuries, pathologies and malformations.

[10] Dr Misra also became the first Indian to receive the International Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) at its Annual Scientific Meeting in Orlando.

His notable patients include Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, Abhijat Joshi, Anand Kumar, among others[15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24] He is also working with Dr. B. Ravi, institute chair professor of Mechanical engineering and the founder of Biomedical Engineering and Technology (incubation) Centre (BETiC) at IIT Bombay, to co-develop biomedical devices.

[30] He started the 6-year DNB course in Neurosurgery for MBBS graduates (one of the only 32 NBE-accredited tertiary-care institutions in India)[31][32] and a 3-month fellowship programme (one of only 23 WFNS-accredited Class-1 postgraduate training centres in the world) at Hinduja Hospital.

[35] Dr. Misra was elected as the Chairman of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) Foundation, marking the first time a neurosurgeon from outside Europe or America has held this prestigious position.
