To ensure maximum operational availability of BN Fleet by repair and maintenance support and to contribute in technical advancement to keep pace with modernization of ships/crafts.

CSD also exercises administrative control over BN Dockyard, other units like BNFD SUNDARBAN, and the Naval Armament Stores Depot through his respective Commanding Officers and Officer-In-charges.
