She is involved in nutrition policy development at the global level, and is currently a professor at Massey University.
[2] From 1987 to 1998 she worked as a nutrition scientist and programme leader in New Zealand government science organisations.
In 1998 she began working at the Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome, as senior officer, chief and deputy director of nutrition through 2015.
In 2016 she returned New Zealand as a professor of nutrition and food systems in the school of public health at Massey University.
