Beate Asserson Saxlund (March 9, 1913 – January 29, 2000) was a Norwegian mezzo-soprano opera singer.
[3] She studied under Sofie Brekke in Bergen in 1931, and then in Stuttgart under Martha Haas and in Berlin under Konrad von Zawilowski.
[1] After many minor roles, she appeared as Erda in Das Rheingold at the Berlin State Opera in 1936.
Her career progressed rapidly, with several roles in Austria, Italy, and France, often under the baton of Herbert von Karajan and Wilhelm Furtwängler.
