The racial makeup of the township was 96.72% White, 0.48% African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.32% Asian, 0.16% Pacific Islander, 0.57% from other races, and 1.49% from two or more races.

There were 1,161 households, out of which 34.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.8% were married couples living together, 9.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.9% were non-families.

20.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
