Benzododecinium bromide is effective against gram-positive microbes.

In lower concentrations, its activity against conditionally gram-negative microorganisms (such as Proteus, Pseudomonas, Clostridium tetani etc.)

In place of bromide, the benzododecinium cation may be used with chloride or another anion.
