Bernard Seurre

Bernard-Gabriel Seurre or Seurre the Elder (11 July 1795 – 3 October 1867) was a French sculptor.

His younger brother Charles Émile Seurre (1798–1858) was also a sculptor.

[1] Born in Paris, Bernard Seurre was a student of the sculptor Pierre Cartellier.

In 1818 Bernard Seurre won the Prix de Rome for sculpture with a relief on the subject Chilonis imploring mercy for her husband Cleombrotus[2] He then produced sculptures for the Arc de Triomphe between 1833 and 1836 and produced a design for a sculpture on top of it in 1833 (though this was never realized).

He died in Paris.
