Beryl Fletcher

Beryl Joan Fletcher (31 May 1938 – 21 February 2018)[1][2] was a New Zealand feminist novelist.

Her first novel, The Word Burners won the 1992 Commonwealth Writers' Prize, Best First Book, Asia/Pacific region.

[3] She graduated from the University of Waikato with a master's degree in Sociology in 1979.

[3] She was resident at the University of Iowa, International Writing Program.

In 2005, she was a Ledig House International Writers’ Resident.
