The town is a part of the Greenville Metropolitan Area located in North Carolina's Inner Banks region.
US 13 connects the town to Greenville, Fayetteville, and the cities in eastern Virginia.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2), all land.
As of the 2020 United States census, there were 1,373 people, 754 households, and 433 families residing in the town.
