Bhushan Patwardhan

Bhushan Patwardhan (born 1959) is a highly cited biomedical scientist involved in transdisciplinary research on Ayurveda and traditional medicine.

He received his Master of Science from Ahmednagar College and his PhD in biochemistry from Savitribai Phule Pune University and the Haffkine Institute of Mumbai.

[3] His main body of work has been in evidenced-based Ayurveda,[4][5] and ethnopharmacology,[6] drug development,[7][8] and the role of traditional medicines in public health.

He developed novel pharmacological models to study botanical immunoadjuvants and created holistic clinical protocols that gave a unique identity to contemporary research in Ayurveda.

His pioneering work on the genetic basis of Prakriti has led to the concept of AyuGenomics, which can influence research in epidemiology, pharmacogenetics, and personalized medicine.
