Big Timber (novel)

Big Timber is a 1936 Australian novel by William Hatfield.

[3] The Bulletin called the novel "a conventional poor-boy-rich-girl romance which the author has made the vehicle of a considerable knowledge of the timber industry and of the lives of trees.

[5] Dale works as a tree feller and studies at university in an effort to be worthy of the love of a young woman.

However his growing passion for re-forestation threatens to tear their romance apart.

[6] Eventually Cinesound made Tall Timbers about the forestry industry but it was based on an original story by Frank Hurley.
