Big hART is an Australian arts and social-justice company based in Tasmania.
Big hART was founded in 1992 by playwright and director Scott Rankin and John Bakes[1] in Burnie, north-western Tasmania,[2] with the aim of countering disadvantage and a spike in crime following mill closures in the town.
[3] The company initiates large scale, long-term community cultural development projects in disadvantaged communities in urban, regional and remote Australia.
