William Cope, known as Bill Cope, is an Australian academic, author and educational theorist who was a research professor in the Department of Educational Policy Studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign,[1] He has also been the Managing Director of Common Ground Publishing at the university.
[2] Cope completed his Bachelor of Arts with first class honours in History in 1979 at Macquarie University.
[2][clarification needed] He worked as senior research fellow in the Centre for Multicultural Studies at the University of Wollongong between 1984 and 1991.
From 1995 to 1996, he was the First Assistant Secretary and Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet for the Australian Government.
[4] His research interests include theories and practices of pedagogy, cultural and linguistic diversity, and new technologies of representation and communication.
