Binjiang (Chinese: 滨江区) is an urban district of Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China.
[2] The district's name is derived from its geographic location along the Qiantang River,[2] and literally translates to river bank (simplified Chinese: 滨江区; traditional Chinese: 濱江區; pinyin: Bīnjiāng Qū; lit.
The area of present-day Binjiang District belonged to the ancient Chinese state of Yue.
[4] The area fell under the jurisdiction of Xiaoshan County [zh], the subdivisions of which are known as far back as the Tang dynasty.
