Boneau is a census-designated place (CDP) in Chouteau County, Montana, United States.
Boneau is located in northeastern Chouteau County and is part of the Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation of the Chippewa-Cree Tribe and is bordered to the east by the CDP of Sangrey in Hill County.
It is located at the western edge of the Bear Paw Mountains and is 8 miles (13 km) east of the town of Box Elder and U.S. Route 87.
[3] Boneau Reservoir on Boxelder Creek is in the northeast corner of the CDP.
About 51.2% of families and 44.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 47.6% of those under the age of eighteen and none of those 65 or over.
