The color of the shirt identifying the colla is groc terrós (earth yellow), unique among colles of castellers in Catalonia.
[1] From its inception, the colla (crew) showed innovative leadership in achieving gender equality in the traditionally male activity, and later worked to include new migrants and people with disabilities[2] The Bordegassos de Vilanova reached their peak during the Major Festival of Vilanova, on 1 August 1999.
The Bordegassos de Vilanova completed their first nine-level castle: a three of nine, followed by a four of eight with needle, a five of eight and the pillar of seven, all of them successfully loaded (carregat) and unloaded (decaragat).
[1] The Colla maintains a club house at Plaça Casernes 2, publishes the magazine L'Aleta, and organizes or contributes to many community events, notably the Manani Rock FM music festival.
[5] The award was for '50 years of conserving and sharing the cultural heritage of Vilanova and Catalonia.'
