The racial makeup of the township was 97.72% White, 0.24% African American, 0.28% Native American, 0.20% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.52% from other races, and 0.97% from two or more races.

There were 1,881 households, out of which 35.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.2% were married couples living together, 8.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.9% were non-families.

23.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 10.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
