[5] After completing high school, he transitioned into a Sales Cadet role for AMP Limited, where he worked for 5 years between 1983 and 1988.

[7] It took place from the 15th to the 24th of October in 1988 and saw 3,041 Para Athletes, 2,370 men and 671 women from 60 different countries competed at these Paralympics which at the time was a record attendance.

[9] It took place from the 16th to the 25th of August in 1996 and saw 3,808 Para Athletes, 2,643 men and 1,165 women[8] from 104 different countries competed at these Paralympics.

[9] The Games saw 388,373 spectators attended various events throughout the competition, along with the Paralympic website receiving an average of 120,000 searches per day.

[5] After his time competing in two Paralympic Games and working at Bupa, Thomas made the move to Sydney to better his training and his career outside of sport.

[5] Shortly after the 1996 Atlanta Games he made the transition to Telstra, in 1997, where he had roles including Senior Account Executive when he started and Director of Sales when he finished in 2002.
