Brantgum

Brantgum is a village in Noardeast-Fryslân in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands.

[4] The village was first mentioned in the 13th century as Brontegum, and means "settlement of the people of Brand (person)".

[5] Brantgum is a terp (artificial living mound) village with a radial structure which probably dates from several centuries Before Christ.

[4] In 1852, the terp was cut in two by the construction of the main road from Dokkum to Holwerd.

[6] Brantgum probably had a school since 1540, however it was closed in 2014–2015 due to lack of students.
