Brassac, Tarn-et-Garonne

Brassac (French pronunciation: [bʁasak]; Occitan: Braçac) is a commune in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in the Occitanie region in southern France.

The Château de Brassac is one of the most important in the area, thanks to its excellent defensive position at the top of steep slopes, and its location on the border between Agenais and Quercy.

It then belonged to the Planels, vassals of the Duke of Aquitaine but established on the lands of the Count of Toulouse, who became its owner before 1190.

Bertrand de Galard, son of Eléonore d'Armagnac, paid homage to King Henry II of England in 1266 and 1291 for this castle.

The castle is nowadays an imposing residence rebuilt in the 15th and 16th centuries, which can be visited.
