Brian Trench (born 13 July 1945) is a writer and academic living in Dublin, who has been centrally involved in developing science communication and science-in-society studies in Ireland.
[1][2] He has always been involved in left-wing activism and in 1969 joined the International Socialist in London.
In 1992 he joined Dublin City University while continuing to work as a freelance journalist.
When he retired in 2010 he was a senior lecturer in DCU and co-ordinated the Masters in Science Communication.
He was a member of the government advisory committee, Irish Council for Science Technology and Innovation, 1997-2003.
