De la Puente was also a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Chicago Bears, and Washington Redskins.

[10] He attended San Clemente High School, where he played football, basketball, and volleyball, was on the track and field team, and was a member of the Superintendent's Honor Roll.

He was waived on August 24, 2009, when the team acquired offensive linemen Andy Alleman and Ikechuku Ndukwe from the Miami Dolphins.
