In April 2009, he began a two-year term as president of the American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG), a professional organization.
[2] During his senior year, Korf served as chairman of the board of the Scientific Research Organization and president of the Library Club.
Upon joining the faculty, he was also named the new Chairman of the Medical Affairs Committee for the National Neurofibromatosis Foundation.
[10] As a result of his impact in the field of human and medical genetics, Korf was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2014.
[11] Two years later, Korf was appointed editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Human Genetics after serving as a member of the editorial board from 2003 to 2005.
