Solnik earned an engineering degree from École Polytechnique in Paris in 1968.
IN 1986 he was presented with a state doctorate in management from the Université de Paris Dauphine.
Solnik became a visiting professor at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from 2006 to 2009, and later was appointed as a professor and academic director of the Master of Science in Global Finance program at that university.
Solnik researches trends in global finance,[2][3][4] and has made a particular study of international diversification of investment.
He also serves on the board of editors of several major Finance journals in America, Europe and Asia.
