[7] As a bassoonist, Young is a founding member of the Poulenc Trio,[6] where he has toured internationally and collaborated with violinist Hilary Hahn,[8] clarinetists David Shifrin,[9] Anthony McGill[10] and Alexander Fiterstein,[11][12] and oboists Liang Wang[13][14][15] and James Austin Smith.

Young was selected to premiere To Earth by Roydon Tse, commissioned by the International Double Reed Society to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
