Bukuzindu Hybrid Solar and Thermal Power Station

Bukuzindu Hybrid Solar and Thermal Power Station is a 1.6MW hybrid solar and diesel fuel-fired thermal power plant in Uganda, the third-largest economy in the East African Community.

As part of the development, electricity transmission lines will be constructed to distribute the generated energy across the urban and rural areas on Bugala Island.

The cost of the Power station alone is estimated at UGX:20 billion (approximately US$7.25 million).

The 66 kilometres (41 mi) road network on the island and the purified water distribution system are expected to come online in May 2015.

Kalangala Infrastructure Services is in the process of encouraging more customers and SMEs to connect to the power station.
