Doctor Robert William Irvine, (1853–1897) nicknamed "Bulldog",[2] was a Scotland international rugby football player.
[3] He represented Edinburgh District against Glasgow District in the Inter-City matches; and played in the first match in 1872.
[4] He was capped 13 times for Scotland between 1871 and 1880,[3] including the first ever rugby international.
[5] He was the brother of Duncan Irvine who was also capped for Scotland.
