Burqa,[2] is set against the backdrop of a Muslim ritual that revolves around 21-year-old recently widowed Najma (Mirnaa),[3] who meets an injured stranger, Surya (Kalaiyarasan), under unlikely circumstances.

On a night in the second week of the mourning period, she is alone in her house when an injured man Surya knocks on her door.
