The station is operated primarily by volunteers from both Western and the greater London community, although it is managed by a small team of industry trained staff and governed by a board of directors.
Chief announcer, John R. Quain, played the station's first song, "On the Air" by Peter Gabriel.
[4][5] The power decrease to 3,000 watts was granted and implemented in October 31 1990, exactly 9 years after the station's first broadcast, allowing coverage of the surrounding area from Chatham to Woodstock.
[9] During the COVID-19 pandemic, the station transitioned to broadcasting pre-recorded shows from all hosts in accordance with Western University's lockdown procedures.
[11] In September 2022, the station began to re-introduce live hosts with volunteers and staff returning to campus.
