It is currently represented by Republican Greg Wallis.

Prior to the 2022 election, the district was located in the heart of the Inland Empire.

The heavily Latino district was anchored by Fontana, while Rialto and San Bernardino also comprised sizable portions of its population.

Following redistricting in 2021, the district became centered around the Coachella Valley in Riverside County and the High Desert in San Bernardino County.

Due to redistricting, the 47th district has been moved around different parts of the state.
