The Cape Dory 22 is an American sailboat that was designed by Carl Alberg as a cruiser and first built in 1981.
[1][3][4] The Cape Dory 22 is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass, with wood trim.
It has a masthead sloop rig, a raked stem, a raised transom, a keel-mounted rudder controlled by a tiller and a fixed long keel.
[1] The boat is normally fitted with a small outboard motor for docking and maneuvering, but a special "D" model was produced with an inboard Japanese Yanmar diesel engine of 7.5 hp (6 kW), located under the companionway ladder.
[5] The boat is supported by an active class club that organizes racing events, the Cape Dory Sailboat Owners Association.
